Families are being separated not only through detention and deportation, but through systems that fail to protect basic standards of care, transparency, and accountability.
What happened to our family was not inevitable—it was the result of institutional failure.
This campaign exists to end the tearing of families apart and to demand accountability from the government bodies responsible for oversight, funding, and enforcement.
Congress and government agencies have a duty to ensure that detention and deportation practices do not cause preventable harm. In our case, that duty was not met.
Failures in oversight, continuity of medical care, and transparency left our family without answers and placed a loved one at risk. These failures are not abstract—they have real consequences for real families.
Accountability cannot be optional when lives and families are affected.
We are calling for:
An end to detention and deportation practices that separate families without safeguards
Congressional oversight and public accountability for detention conditions
Enforceable standards for medical continuity during detention and transfers
Full transparency and access to medical records for families
Clear responsibility and consequences when government systems fail
These are not extraordinary demands. They are basic obligations.
Your voice matters. Oversight only happens when the public demands it.
Take action by:
Sharing this campaign to keep public attention on these failures
Supporting accountability efforts aimed at ending family separation and neglect
Contacting your Congressional representatives and demanding oversight
Use the script below when calling your U.S. Senators and House Representative.
Calling in regards to the case of Asif Amin Cheema:
Ask for Constituent Services or Immigration Casework.
"Hello, my name is [Your Name], and I am a constituent calling from [City, State]. I am calling about an urgent medical and humanitarian case involving Asif Amin Cheema, who was deported on January 1, 2026, despite documented medical needs and serious medical neglect while in ICE detention. While detained, he was repeatedly transferred, denied consistent and appropriate medication, hospitalized for an undisclosed reason, and then given unknown and inconsistent pills. These failures occurred while he was in U.S. government custody and contributed to serious harm to his health. Deportation has not resolved these medical issues — it has made them more dangerous. He continues to require medical care that was not provided while detained and cannot be safely managed following his removal. I am calling to urgently request your office’s advocacy to:
Intervene with ICE and the Department of Homeland Security to review his deportation based on medical necessity,
Advocate for his humanitarian return to the United States, and
Demand transparency and accountability for the medical neglect he experienced while in detention.
This is a life-threatening situation. Can you tell me what steps your office can take to support this request and follow up with ICE?"
Calling to demand accountability and transparency:
“Hello, my name is [Your Name], and I’m a constituent from [City, State]. I’m calling today because I am concerned about ICE enforcement practices, particularly in cases where due process may be violated — such as arrests without judicial warrants, lack of Miranda warnings, limited access to counsel, and the absence of body cameras or visible identification on agents.Everyone in the United States deserves basic constitutional protections, regardless of immigration status. Without transparency and accountability, these enforcement actions can result in rights violations and the unnecessary use of lethal force I respectfully urge you to:
Require ICE agents to use judicial warrants for arrests,
Ensure Miranda rights and access to legal counsel are respected,
Mandate that ICE agents wear body cameras and visible badges, and
Support independent oversight and investigations into ICE operations.”
These steps are critical to ensure that ICE enforcement respects constitutional rights and public trust. Thank you for listening, and I hope you will take action to protect due process and accountability.”
When government systems fail without consequence, families pay the price.
Silence allows the same failures to continue.
We are taking action so that what happened to our family is not repeated, and so that Congress and the government are held accountable to the people they are meant to serve.
Ending the tearing of families apart requires accountability.
Accountability begins with Congress and the government acknowledging and correcting their failures.
Our family is facing an unexpected and heartbreaking transition. My father was recently deported after a long and painful immigration process that deeply affected every part of our lives. This has been an incredibly difficult reality to accept, not because we gave up, but because we fought with everything we had. Our legal team worked tirelessly alongside us, and we pursued every available option to keep our family together. Unfortunately, despite our efforts, the system failed us.
This GoFundMe is meant to help our family during this transition period. Donations will go toward essential living expenses, legal and administrative costs, medical needs, and helping us stay connected and supported while we figure out what comes next as a family separated by borders. While this chapter is painful, we continue to hold onto faith. We believe that hardship does not come without purpose, and that ease follows difficulty. We trust in God’s plan, even when we don’t yet understand it. We are deeply grateful for every prayer, message, share, and act of kindness. If you are able to donate, please know that your support means more than words can express. And if you’re unable to give, simply sharing our story helps more than you know.
With love and gratitude, The Amin Family
